Design Philosophy

We all want to feel stylish at home, comfy at home and happy at home. But sometimes we forget just how important it is to create spaces where we can live, entertain and celebrate life’s turning points. To maintain good health and prosperity, and to cultivate happy relationships, a great place to start is by creating an environment that reflects the best of who we are.

The MiGi design philosophy is about personalizing an environment – not making it showroom perfect. No one of us is like anyone else – so why should our surroundings be?

Because style is so personal, the MiGi philosophy is to improvise – to mix and match, naturally and effortlessly, always with an eye toward function. We draw our inspiration from vintage and classics – creating new combinations of colors, textures and fabrics. MiGi strives for an aesthetic that is timeless, not trendy – helping you achieve your own signature style, tailored to your particular budget.

Whether you’re decorating a home, designing a garden or planning an unforgettable event, MiGi means a stylish, cozy world as unique and extraordinary as you are.

About Us

Known together as "The MiGi Girls," Michele Adams and Gia Russo bring their personable charm and fresh, unique style to everyday living through their television shows, lifestyle books, product lines, and magazine editorials. Their design sensibility is a modern twist on vintage and classics that translates into an approachable and distinctive style. As trusted sources of practical advice for modern living, Michele and Gia provide solutions for getting the most out of everyday life—whether it’s decorating a home, celebrating a milestone or just relaxing with friends and family.

As television personalities, Michele and Gia host two Fine Living Network shows: The Art of the Party and The Perfect Surprise Party and have appeared as guests on numerous programs including The Oprah Winfrey Show, NBC’s Weekend Today and Style Network. Most recently they partnered with AOL to host an original series called Entertaining with Michele and Gia. The program features video clips, GMC sponsored tips, podcasts, mobile downloads, and step by step guidance on how to throw hip, simple parties. Their success and engaging style led to endorsements and roles as spokespersons with high-profile brands such as Baby Gap, Amazon and Pepperidge Farm.

Michele and Gia met while working as editors and designers for Martha Stewart Living in New York City. They found their skills and talents complemented each other's, and they shared an interest in style, gardening and entertaining stories. Together they worked on every aspect of more than 50 stories, developing them from conception and research, to development, styling and production. They turned many of those stories into content for Martha Stewart's television segments, books and Internet business. Their role in product design evolved from their editorial work and they developed both mass-market and high-end retail collections. In 1999 Michele and Gia left Martha Stewart Living and moved to Los Angeles to form their company, MiGi, a combination of their first names.

Michele and Gia are the authors of three lifestyle books: At Home with Friends, Wedding Showers and Baby Showers. Each book is beautifully photographed and filled with ideas, inspiration, and real world advice for planning both memorable celebrations and casual get-togethers. At Home with Friends was selected for Oprah’s Book Club, on the bestseller list at Amazon.com, and nominated for a Gourmand International Award for best entertaining book. With their background as editors and stylists, they are a favorite with lifestyle magazines and they’ve contributed to over 100 editorials over the past ten years to such titles as InStyle, O Magazine, Lucky, Glamour and Fit Pregnancy.

Adding another layer to their list of accomplishments is the fall 2006 launch of their own line of MiGi branded products. The MiGi baby collection includes crib bedding and nursery room decor accessories and is already a favorite with celebrity moms. MiGi entertaining, tabletop and home decor products hit stores in Spring 2007. Designing their product line was a natural progression of their experience and notoriety and they honed their design and merchandising skills with freelance stints for a number of prestigious lifestyle, fashion and beauty brands such as Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel, Neiman Marcus, Target, Apple Computer and Lancome.
